The iconic car MG Motors brand has unveiled the E-motion, an electric supercar concept, at the Shanghai International Auto Show. The concept offers a glimpse of the future, the next-generation vehicle aims to push the boundaries of innovation and technology while meeting the needs of today’s car buyers. According to rumours, the concept is expected to make production in 2020.
Perfectly blending style, sophistication and elegance, the E-motion embodies MG’s vision for the future. With a slender sports back-style design paying tribute to the brand’s hundred-year heritage, a Mercedes ‘Diamond pin’ style front grill and headlights seemingly borrowed from a Mazda CX-3.
Below the surface is pure-electric modular architecture platform developed in-house and delivering a 0-60mph time of under four seconds, yet boasts a range of more than 310miles. Equipped with an intelligent infotainment system, the supercar is fully internet-compatible, which MG believes will position it perfectly at its target, younger market.
The MG brand is owned by the Chinese SAIC group which has created a keenly priced range of cars. The E-motion is a far cry from their current MG3 supermini and the MG GS SUV. These models have helped to drive a 76% increase in year-on-year sales figures, alongside a 51% increase in sales compared to the previous quarter – easily surpassing the industry average.
