The Toyota Mirai is the world’s first mass production fuel cell saloon. That means it is fuelled with hydrogen only, there is no combustion engine, it cannot be plugged in either, and the only tailpipe emission is water vapour.
There is much talk about how the generation of hydrogen requires masses of energy and therefore cannot be considered green or sustainable.
ITM Power are creating and storing hydrogen at a number of UK locations using an on-site wind turbine to generate the energy required to make hydrogen.
