Mitsubishi teases new PHEV concept for Paris Motorshow

Frankly there is little to comment on this vehicle as so little is known.  Named the Ground Tourer Concept, it is due to be revealed at this Paris Motorshow in October.

The teaser photo below shows a heavily computer generated outline of a 5 door SUV with hints of Land Rover’s Evoque with his floating roofline. Details provided by Mitsubishi are limited to fluffy marketing messaging. The car will continue what the Outlander PHEV started, bringing plug-in hybrids to the masses, the success of which is undeniable.

Nissan recently purchased a significant stake in Mitsubishi following a fuel economy rigging scandal.  It is too soon for Nissan‘s influence to be seen Mitsubishi products, however rumours of an all-electric SUV seem to be growing.

Official Mitsubishi statement;

Following the unveiling of the Concept XR PHEV II and eX Concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show respectively, Mitsubishi Motors continues the development of its ‘Dynamic Shield’ design philosophy with its latest concept to be unveiled at this year’s Paris Motor Show.

The Ground Tourer Concept carries the latest expression of Mitsubishi Motors’ design journey, expressed through four powerful elements: Functional beauty, augmented possibilities, Japanese craftsmanship and solid thrust.

Combining Mitsubishi Motors’ unparalleled off road heritage and cutting edge plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technology, the Ground Tourer Concept SUV will offer effortless travel both on and off the beaten track whatever the driving conditions.
