The car’s the star – TV goes EV

For along time Hollywood and the motor industry have had a close relationship. With product placement becoming more and more common, what’s better than placing the an A-list movie star into your latest car as they go about saving the world in Hollywood’s freshest blockbuster.

The perfect example of this is the Bond franchise where the car the MI6 agent drives is forever associated with glamour and sophisticated gadgetry.

Electric cars are becoming increasingly attractive to producers as they strive to make their programming more futuristic looking and appealing to younger audiences.

On TV, this is no more apparent than in the recent sci-fi series EXTANT.

Set in the near future, the Stephen Speilberg produced show is based around Halle Berry’s character Molly, an Astronaut for the International Space Exploration Agency (ISEA).  Back on terra firmer the actress and nearly all of the main cast members are seen in a variety of electric cars.

With electric cars becoming more and more mainstream, it is only a matter of time before we see an EV gliding down the cobbled streets of Weatherfield.
